On the B4479 which is off the A44 between Moreton in Marsh and Broadway. Blockley is a delightful village situated in the rolling hills of the North Cotswolds between Moreton in Marsh and Chipping Campden.

Blockley is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. It has also been listed as a conservation area. To read interesting details regarding this and the history of the village click HERE

In its heyday Blockley boasted 12 water mills along the Blockley Brook and Cole Brook, which were converted into a thriving silk industry in the 18th and 19th centuries. They then went back to flour, flax, woodcutting, threshing and cider. Two became piano factories. The mills are no longer active and have been converted into homes. The church of St Peter and St Paul, situated off The Square, dates from 1180 onwards.

The new Blockley Village Shop and Cafe opens on 21 April 2008 and will sell groceries, newspapers and is also an off licence. The Post Office side will open latter half of June, when the old Post Office closes.

Paxton House, adjoining the Post Office was the HQ of the American Super Six division in 1942, commanded by General George S Patton. He and Eisenhower met here to plan the Normandy landings.

Blockley is a thriving village community. The attractive village green overlooks the bowling green and children's recreation area. There is a pub in the village serving food - The Great Western Arms. Also The Crown Hotel, which dates from the 18th century, serves food in the bar or restaurant.  Lower Brook House also serves meals in its restaurant (bookings only).

The Blockley Picture Playhouse usually shows a film on the 4th Thursday of the month at St Georges' Hall but look out for notices in the village.

Many gardens in the village are open to the public twice a year - in the Spring and also in early June.

In addition, the 2½ acres of garden at Mill Dene are open from 1 April to 31 October.
