Access Statement for Sansons Cottage, Chipping Campden


 

Introduction

We aim to create a home from home environment in our Grade 2 Listed Cottage in the centre of Chipping Campden which provides two bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, one family bathroom.  The following statement is a summary of what we provide.   If you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact us on the contact details below

 
Pre-Arrival

 

  • All enquiries / bookings are handled by Campden Cottages.  They have an extensive web site www.campdencottages.co.uk which includes much useful local information as well as a page for Sansons Cottage showing photos and a full description
  • Bookings / enquiries can be made via email, fax or phone
  • Once the final payment is made, directions are sent to you which include the postcode
  • There are several bus services in the village going to Cheltenham, Stratford, Oxford, Bourton on the Water and Moreton in the Marsh.
  • The train station is ten minutes drive away in Moreton in the Marsh.  There is a regular fast train to London from this station.
  • There are a variety of food shops in the village, including delicatessans, grocery shops, vegetable shops and a bakery.
  • There are several pubs and a variety of lovely restaurants most of which are child friendly.
     

 
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• There is usually parking available on the road outside the cottage.   There is parking for several cars depending on spaces available.   There is a raised kerb from the road to the pavement and then a raised step of 20 cms to the front door which opens directly onto the street.
• The village centre is about five minutes walk from the front door of the cottage

 

 

Main Entrance

  • There is a small hallway with a telephone on the left hand side.
  • There are coat hooks on the right hand side to carry several coats and scarves. 
  • There is a light in the hallway and a glass topped doorway which leads through into the lounge area.  
  • There is a step from the street into the hallway which is 20cm high.
  • The front door is 91cms wide.  
  • The entry hallway is 1.5m x 2 m and the floor is tiled.     


Hall, Stairs, Landing

 

  • There is a staircase directly opposite the front door. 
  • There is a hand rail on the left hand side
  • There are 11 stairs up to the first floor and they are 22cms high and 85 cms wide. 
  • The landing is quite uneven as this is such an old cottage. 
  • A door leads to another curved staircase to the top floor. 
  • This again has a handrail on the left hand side
  • There are 12 steps in total and they measure 70 cms wide and 20 cms high.
  • The stairs and landing are carpeted

 

Sitting Room

  • The entry to the sitting room comes directly from the glass topped door from the hallway.  
  • There is another door into the kitchen and a stone step up into the kitchen area.  
  • The kitchen doorway is 76cms wide and the step up is 19 cms high.    
  • The kitchen table has an underspace of 72 cms high by 140 cms wide.
  • The sitting room is carpeted with a rug in front of the fire


Laundry

  • All the bed linen and tea towels are laundered on a weekly basis.
  • We do not provide a laundry service from the cottage but there is a washing machine/tumble dryer in the kitchen


 
Bedrooms

  • Bedroom One on the first floor has a double bed (5ft wide) and two bedside tables and two bedside lamps.   
  • The bedroom door is 81 cms wide.  
  • The bed is 60cms high.  
  • There is a space of 47 cms on one side of the bed and 40 cms on the other side.
  • There is a wicker armchair in this room.  
  • The floor is carpeted

 

The bathroom on this floor is easily accessible and is about two metres from the bedroom door

 

Bathroom

  • The bathroom on the first floor has a bath and a shower over the bath. 
  • The doorway is 68cms wide and opens inwards.
  • The shower is switched on by a pull switch and then a button on the shower itself. 
  • You have to climb into the bath to use the shower which is over the bath with a shower curtain. 
  • The side of the bath is 54 cms high.  
  • The toilet is 43 cms high.  
  • The basin is 86cms high. 
  • Free floor space clear of the door is 74 cms x 90 cms. 

 

 

Bedroom Two with En suite Shower Room can be found on the top floor

 

  • Through door 74cm wide and up a staircase with 12 stairs, width 70 cms and height and depth 20cms
  • It has a king sized (6 ft) double bed which can be made into two 3 foot single beds if required.   The mattress zips up the middle when the bed is made into a double.   
  • The bed is 50 cms high. 
  • There is a space of 40 cms one side of the bed and 32 cms on the other side.  
  • There is 1.9 metres free space at the end of the bed to the dressing table and a wardrobe with a width of 3 metres.
  • There are also two bedside tables and two bedside lamps 
  • This room has an ensuite shower room
  • The floor is carpeted


En suite Shower Room

 

  • The en-suite shower room on the top floor has a light switch on the outside of the door.  
  • The door is 76 cms wide and opens outwards. 
  • The shower cubicle has a step which is 24cms high.
  • The basin is 84cms high
  • The toilet is 42 cms high. 
  • Free floor space in this ensuite room is 77 cms x 186 cms.



Grounds and Gardens

We have a long elongated garden which leads from the back door, with 10 stone steps which are approximately 80 cms and 17 cms wide,  to a country cottage garden with windy gravel path which culminates in a sun patio with table, chairs and a sun umbrella at the end of the garden.     There is a barbeque for the use of guests which is based on the terrace.

 
Additional Information

  • There are fire extinguishers in the sitting room and the first landing and also in the top bedroom. 
  • There is a fire blanket on the wall in the kitchen. 
  • There are carbon monoxide alarms plugged into the top bedroom and the lounge downstairs.  
  • All the smoke alarms have been wired into the mains electricity supply.
  • There are torches on every floor - located in the kitchen and the first bedroom and the top bedroom.
  • We do not allow smoking in any areas of the house and we no longer allow candles due to the fire risk.
  • We do not allow dogs in the cottage
  • There is an Information folder in size 12 font
  • There is a telephone in the cottage and an honesty box alongside a list of call charges.  Mobile signals can be intermittent in the village.
